How To Wrap Trees With Christmas Lights

To make your garden look like a magic winter fairy tale, all you need is just a few dimensions and preparations. The only thing you'll have to do is to wrap trees in lighting garlands! If you're not sure how to start wrapping your trees with lights, take a look at some few fundamental guidelines that will definitely be helpful.

At first, decide on the lights you are going to use. Actually any type of lighting garlands, almost without exceptions, can be used for wrapping trees. However, take into account that smaller lights as a rule suit better for wrapping. Smaller ones won't overwhelm trees and, at the same time, will unobtrusively draw attention to trees' natural beauty. And remember that installing small lights will be considerably easier than big ones. A smart solution is to choose mini-lights, and of course the most clever option will be LED mini-lights - they are power-saving and long lasting.

Please remember that during daylight the wires of the light sets will be seen. So attentively pick out a wire color so that the garland will mix together with the natural look of the branches in the daytime.

Light all the trunk of a tree, and just about 3-4" high in the branches. It is not necessary to wrap the lights around every branch, just choose branches so that the light will be even and attractive. Wrapping won't make any difficulties if you find someone who can help you. Also remember to keep the garland in a neat ball and you'll see how it will facilitate the work.

Here are some practical tips on how to easily wrap trees with lights:

  • Start wrapping the tree from its foundation with the first string of lights. Remember that the male plug should be near the soil, as you have to connect it to power.
  • If you start with the female, wrap the tree systematically and connect the male end with the next light garland's female end.
  • Make vertical space larger in places where the garland will be wrapped up and back down.
  • To prevent damages from wind and storm, you should wrap garlands as close to the tree as possible.
  • Wrap lighting string tautly, to be sure that it fits orderly. Garland lights will stay in their places if you have wrapped it tightly, yet sometimes you may need to use zip ties to secure loose wires.
